Legendary Detroit Yacht Club Wedding
Melinda exuded confidence on her wedding day. Nathan was her man and she was going to marry him today. There were no signs of nerves, but rather an elation for the day to come and an excitement to be his bride. Nathan was the same way when I saw him on the wedding day. He was ready to see his bride and do this thing. These two were meant for each other and it was completely obvious from my very first meeting with them.
The day began at Salon Bliss in Rochester where the girls had hair and makeup done. Melinda’s hair dresser Leah did an amazing job and it was clear there is an art to doing hair. Melinda’s childhood home was the location for the getting ready photos where the girls had silk robes made by Feign Designs.
The ring bearer came down the aisle with a look of wonder while the flower girl followed diligently placing rose pedals down the aisle. Nathan stood there anxiously awaiting his bride with a smile. And there she was walking with her Daddy down the aisle smiling back at him. Dad pulled the vail over her head and with a hug he gave his girl away to Nathan with a handshake.
The reception was held at the Detroit Yacht Club where their they spent every month over the past year. The Detroit Grand Prix was taking place on the island at the same time. This was truly the right place for them to have their reception.
The entire day was cloudy but when it came time to take their wedding portraits the sun came out and we had the most beautiful light to capture the bridal party. Even better was the sunset that evening. After the dancing was over we took the bride and groom out on the boardwalk for a few portraits on their family boat and then finished it up with a view of the Detroit Skyline. It was a perfect day.
