Engagement Session Photo Walk

Engagement Session Photo Walk

I’m excited to share with you my next photo walk that has been in the works for some time now. It’s an engagement session photo walk complete with a real couple engaged to be married serving as models. We’ll be taking them through a typical engagement session on the grounds of the beautiful Meadow Brook Mansion on the Campus of Oakland University. Bring your camera and your questions and we’ll work with a wonderful couple that doesn’t mind 15 cameras pointed in their direction. We’ll discuss photographic techniques as well as learn tips and tricks to use to get the most out of your engagement sessions.

When: Sunday April 17th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm
Where: Meadow Brook Mansion
480 South Adams Road
Rochester, Michigan 48309-4401

Due to the nature of this shoot I am limiting it to 15 students.

Advanced purchase price is $15 or $20 on the day of the shoot.

Photos from the heart

A picture is worth a thousand words. You’ve heard that before, but I think a picture captured from the heart is worth much more than that. Without it, an image is empty and lifeless.

When you throw the camera to your eye and shoot a photo without putting your heart into it, then the capture feels flat. Reach down to the depths of your heart, your being, and feel the photograph presented in front of you. One of the mantras that I say to myself on a shoot is to “slow down and take the shot.” When I say those words to myself I’m reminded to stop and pay attention to what’s really important in the scene. Feel the emotion and the vibe and then capture what’s really going on.

Photos from the heart are worth much more than 1000 words.

Oakland County Crossfit Games

Sorry for a non-wedding post, but I had the complete honor of photographing the Crossfit games at Oakland County Crossfit yesterday and it was a life altering experience. The stamina and athleticism these Crossfitter’s have is simply awe inspiring. It makes me re-evaluate my P90X workouts.

I so want to do this.

The money raised during the Crossfit Games were donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. There are a lot of soldiers out there that are home and unable to get work because of injuries, and the Wounded Warrior Project really helps them.

Below is a picture of my bride Julie competing yesterday. She is an amazing woman. You can view all of the images from the games at the following website.
