The Rings

December 15, 2009

The ring feels different on your finger when you put it on for the first time. The added weight is a bit of a reminder of the wedding day and what it means to begin the rest of your life with someone. I love to capture a bride or groom examining the ring on their finger sometime during the reception. It’s a moment I look for, and sometimes I am rewarded with the capture.

May I borrow your rings? A question that comes some time during the reception when the dancing is in full swing and all of the important photo opportunities are over. I wish my photographer had photographed the rings at my wedding. I would have loved a surprise photograph of our rings together with some of the ornaments on the tables or near something that is meaningful to me. So while the bride and groom dance the night away, I’m off to the side capturing a gem of a photograph to surprise them later.

These are Tom and Jessica’s rings from their wedding at Waldonwoods.

The Rings

Jess: I clearly remember you asking me the question, "May I borrow your ring?" at the reception and being so excited to see how you were going to capture our rings. :) Now, the day is here and the picture turned out amazing!
