7 years of remission

It feels like an eternity ago that we were sitting in front of the pediatric oncologist hearing the worst news a parent can be told.  It was just a little lump……  Its probably nothing (so we were told.)  We were told that our baby had both leukemia and lymphoma, and that treatment needed to begin right away.  Our world was turned upside down.

Seven years has gone by since she took her last pill.  Seven years since she’s had a medaport.  Seven years since she’s had to worry about being neutropenic.  Seven years of normal.  Today is a big day for Catie.  Today we celebrate seven years of remission, and Catie gets to decide what restaurant we celebrate at.  I suspect some ice cream is on the menu as well.

Congratulations Catie!

Here’s a recent photo of our fighter on our recent vacation to the grand canyon.

Snowball Fight

I’m starting to get caught up.  This year of photography was a blast and an amazing experience. It blew by me faster than I could ever imagine. I’m almost caught up with my workload and it’s starting to feel like a breath of fresh air.

My favorite quote is from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.  ”Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”  Sometimes you need to stop and enjoy the little things, so here’s my nephew Vinnie during a recent snowball fight we had at my father’s house.

October Sky

Family

The October Sky is beautiful here in Michigan. There’s something about the light hitting more of the atmosphere that just makes it rich and beautiful. Makes for some spectacular sunsets, and I try to use them as a back drop in family photo sessions and weddings whenever possible. This particular family session had the perfect opportunity and setting and we had to capture it at the end of the session.

Lake Orion’s Best Dog turns 11

Why is a wedding photographer posting a picture of his dog on his website? Why not? Here’s my dog Sparkie, she’s amazing. I’m sure that she has no concept of the term birthday, but this week she turned 11 years old and we celebrated by eating treats and taking portraits. To be clear, she ate the treats, I used the camera.  We captured a lot of great shots while the sun was setting. This was my favorite and now has become my desktop background.

Hey Baby! I love you

Meet my brother and his wife. Together they make a great pair and we had a lot of fun photographing the belly last weekend. We captured some great photos of their entire family that were intimate and sweet, and then we had some fun. These were my favorites from the session because they show my brother’s humor and personality well.
