Photo Walk at the Walter P Chrysler Museum

What: Photo Walk

Do you want to learn to take better pictures? Do you have a camera with all kinds of buttons that are meaningless to you? Do you like to take pictures and learn from other photographers? Well then a photo walk is the perfect opportunity to share photo knowledge and have fun creating works of art.

We have an awesome indoor location for this month’s photo walk.  I’ve arranged for a photo walk in the Walter P. Chrysler Museum.  It’s a perfect indoor location in case the weather is uncoorperative and I love photographing classic cars.  I hope you can join me and my photography friends for this walk.

Sydney’s Bat Mitzvah – West Bloomfield Michigan

On Saturday Sydney was called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah in front of family and friends at the Shir Shalom temple in West Bloomfield. I had the honor of witnessing this wonderful day through the camera lens and it was breath taking. Sydney stood on the bima reading the Torah with poise and confidence letting the world know that she had prepared for this moment and was ready to become an adult. The smiles and the tears were plentiful on this day of worship and celebration, and it truly was an honor to be a part of it.

After the sun set the celebration began at the Edgewood Country Club

Amy and the staff at Joe Cornell Entertainment kept the dance floor pumping the whole evening.

Photo Walk – Lake Orion Style

What an amazing time we had on the photo walk this past Sunday. For a while now I have had friends ask me how to use their cameras and I’ve been looking for an opportunity to share one of my favorite photographic learning activities. The photo walk was the perfect opportunity to share camera knowledge and take pictures with friends in a low pressure environment. During a photo walk you shoot for yourself without the worry of getting the shot, and that’s where you really learn. Being able to handle the high pressure situations arise from photo walks. It’s this low stress environment where you are presented with different lighting situations and have the time to understand and perfect the imagery produced in all different lighting conditions.  I just love it.

Thank you to everyone that attended the first of many photo walks. I’m looking forward to seeing you all again in a future event. I’m taking suggestions for the next location, so feel free to leave a comment and suggest a great photo walk spot for us to explore.  Here’s a shot of the group after the walk taken my my lovely wife Julie.  She was using my camera so notice I’m using a point and shoot for this group portrait.  See you at the next one!

Trilogy Band Rocks It

I’m always excited to see a live band at a wedding because it means the dynamic of the dance floor will be electric. I played trumpet for many years and I can appreciate the muscle power and stamina required to play an entire wedding evening. During a wedding this summer I had the pleasure of hearing Trilogy Band play and had fun photographing them as they kept the dance floor busy. Here are a few of my favorites from the evening. If you’re in the market for some oldies, motown, classic rock, or big band music at your wedding I recommend you check this troupe out.

Team Luby – 3 Day Walk

For those of you who are walking in the 3 day walk this Friday, I wear this bracelet for you.  I wear it in honor of the people who lost their lives to breast cancer and for the people fighting to find a cure. Good luck this weekend Team Luby. My heart goes out to you and your fight for this great cause. I never knew Kathy Luby, but I know her friends and in that I believe that I know the wonderful person she was.
