It was a complete pleasure meeting Emily and Keegan the other day for their engagement photos. We met at the Caterbury Village in Lake Orion Michigan for a nice walk, conversation, and photo taking. Next May I will have the opportunity to capture them in wedding dress and tuxedo holding hands and saying “I do” for the world to see. They both were funny to talk with and I really had a great time learning about them and their families. I understand that Keegan’s family was not as frequent with the home picture taking as Emily’s was, so this was his time to shine for the camera and he did a great job. That, or Emily coached him on his smile before we met. Either way, the two of them were great with the camera and the engagement session felt more like a conversation than a picture taking session.

Emily couldn’t decide between the yellow or the red shoes for the session. She ultimately chose the red and I think it was the right choice because they really rocked this photo.

The last shot of the evening was at Lake 16 where we hoped we would find a sunset, and mother nature did not disappoint.

Lastly, when I met with Emily and her mother, I mentioned that my favorite coney dog place was Lipumas in Rochester, Michigan. Both Emily and her mother, almost in unison, corrected me and said that the absolute best coney dog’s in the state of Michigan are at Bob E’s Super Chief in Pontiac. So I paid them a visit the other day and ordered their footlong toasted bun goodness.   I am a huge fan!   First of all, the bun is toasted. Who ever thought of that? Well Bob E’s did and they are totally amazing.  I need to run a few miles to burn off the calories, but it was way worth it.  Check it out on the corner of Walton Blvd and Telegraph in Pontiac.

Emily and Keegan, it was an honor to meet you and I can’t wait for your wedding day.

The way they looked at each other while they spoke was what did it for me. I knew I wanted to be their wedding photographer when I met them in Plymouth Michigan a few weeks ago. They sat on the couch at the local Panera bread and we discussed their wedding. As we talked about their engagement and their wedding, they would both look at each other with a sense of awe and comfort. It said to me that these people really want to be together for the long haul, and I wanna be there when they tell the world.

This weekend we met at the Nichols Arboretum (The Arb for short) in Ann Arbor Michigan for their engagement photos.

The world famous squirrel sculptures of the Arb. Ok, maybe not world famous, but we thought they were great.

When they drove up to the parking lot, I could hear the rumble of the engine from this Chavelle before they got there. I knew it had to make an appearance in the photo shoot.
